Last week we talked a lot about Japanese Geography and looked at how the tiny country is located on the Pacific Ring of Fire. I found this web site that saved many of the images of that event and saved them for the internet to study. Check it out for some great analysis of the event.

This article is pretty amazing, basically an artist in Japan is taking the ancient art of the Bonsai Tree and changing it up with a modern, free flip. This is a two thousand year old craft and has not been changed within main stream Japan for years. Check out the article for more info!!
Mitsubishi Electric Corp has developed a display capable of projecting a 56-inch image...oh and you can walk through it! Viewers can freely pass through an image or video being displayed in midair. I thought that this article was really interesting and goes along really well with our introduction to Japan this week. Since 2011 Japanese Elementary Schools have made learning English mandatory. All students must participate in these classes, which means that the entire country will eventually be bilingual, which is pretty amazing. Check out the link below for the article.

This is really sad... about 150,000 penguins have died since being stranded by a vast iceberg that became lodged off the coast of Antarctica six years ago. The United States is a beautiful melting pot of cultures that come from all over the world. We share ideas, food, religions and ideas from our unique perspectives on life and it is beautiful! The Chinese culture is one of the biggest parts of that melting pot on the East Coast of the United States and for the first time that cultures New Year is being recognized. New York City schools will be closed to honor Chinese New Year Celebrations. This is a big beautiful step in the United States continuing that mixing of the pot! Check out the article to read more.
Chinese New Year is upon use, or as its offically called, The Lunar New Year. Part of this beautiful celebration is the art of Lion Dancing, which is a pretty incredible dance where two people wear a large dragon puppet and preform a dangerous dance number.
